TTU Sevilla Spring 2020

It’s been exactly two weeks since we received the order to evacuate all students and our semester abruptly took a sharp turn down an unexpected detour. You were suddenly jerked out of what was supposed to be your magically transformative study abroad experience, and we here were left without students, a big part of what brings meaning and order to our day-to-day lives. I am aware of some of the dramatic and intense situations some of you faced when travelling back home, but I imagine that this situation has somehow left an indelible mark on all of you.    On Thursday March 12 when the order came, as you all remember, life in Sevilla felt normal, except for the palpable air of uneasiness about what was coming. Friday March 13 Andalucía announced that schools would be cancelled until the end of March and then the President of Spain Pedro Sánchez announced a State of Alarm that would go into effect on Sunday March 15 through the rest of the month. ¡Hola a tod@s! What a change we all had to face, from seeing each other daily to being confined at home. Yet, in the midst of these circumstances, I want to tell you THANKS for our Seville experience! Let's remind each other that the memories we all made, and the friendships we begun while being abroad will continue inspiring us. Here is a picture of our beloved río Guadalquivir for all of you.

We hope you've made it back home or to an intermediate destination safe and sound and have a chance to rest up and process this experience. We look forward to staying in contact with you.

Hola a todos, We hope all of you have made it back safe and sound.  Given the velocity with which everything happened, we never had time to bring closure to what was a great semester.  We at the TTU Center in Sevilla wanted to create a forum where the Spring 2020 group could share stories and updates as to how leaving Sevilla, travelling back, quarantine and life thereafter is going.  The intention of this blog is to create a space for reflection on this shared experience.
